EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Franchy Cordero hit a two-run single in the fifth inning, leading the El Paso Chihuahuas to a 10-2 win over the Fresno Grizzlies on Monday.
The single by Cordero started the scoring in a five-run inning and gave the Chihuahuas a 4-2 lead. Later in the inning, Hunter Renfroe and Christian Villanueva hit back-to-back two-run and solo home runs.
The Chihuahuas later added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh. In the sixth, Diego Goris scored on an error, while Nick Buss hit an RBI triple in the seventh.
Renfroe homered and singled twice, driving in three runs for El Paso.
El Paso right-hander Jordan Lyles (1-1) picked up the win after allowing two runs on just three hits over five innings. Opposing starter Kent Emanuel (1-2) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after a rough outing in which he allowed seven runs and nine hits over five innings.
